After completing an extensive search for an interim fire chief, we are pleased to announce the appointment of John Ward to the position, effective April 12.

John most recently served as the fire chief for the Georgetown Fire Department from September 2014 to August 2019 which was the capstone to his 20 year career with the department. John’s previous leadership experience will be instrumental as he accepts the responsibility for managing the department during the interim period. While at GFD, John enhanced organizational performance by improving practices and procedures, establishing an officer development program, promoting and supporting staff training, and being an effective communicator. In addition, John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting which has been useful in his efforts to provide services in a fiscally responsible manner.
