SCOTT COUNTY FISCAL COURT ORDINANCE NO. 19-06 AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A WORKPLACE POLICY PROHIBITING DISCRIMINA TION AND HARASSMENT WHEREAS, it is the goal of the Scott County Fiscal Court to provide a workplace for all employees that is safe and enjoyable and free of any harmful or unlawful conduct; and WHEREAS, it has been the longstanding policy of the Fiscal Court that neither discrimination nor harassment should be permitted in the workplace; and WHEREAS, the Fiscal Court finds it helpful to formally set out in writing the county's policy on discrimination and harassment in the personnel policy; NOW THEREFORE, the Scott County Fiscal Court does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION 1. PROHIBITION OF DISCRIMINATION AND HARASSMENT . Scott County Fiscal Court ("SCFC") is committed to ensuring that discrimination and harassment of its employees, in any form, is prohibited on the basis of race, color, citizenship status, sex, age, disability , pregnancy , creed, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, national or ethnic origin, religion or religious belief, veteran's status, or any other factor that is prohibited by applicable state or federal law or local ordinance. SCFC prohibits not only unlawful discrimination and harassment, but also other unprofessional and discourteous actions which affect the professional and congenial work environment. SECTION 2. DISCRIMINA TION. Unlawful discrimination occurs when a person (or group) is treated unfavorably or differently because of that person's (or group's) membership in a protected class listed
