230.2 ORDINANCE # 03-011 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE# 94.014 RELA TING TO EXCLUDING VOLUNTEERS WHO PROVIDE EMERGENCY MEDICAL, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT , OR FIREFIGHTING SERVICES FROM THE SCOTT COUNTY NEPOTISM SECTION Ill OF THE ETHICS ORDINANCE WHEREAS, it is the purpose of local government to serve its people and to assure the safety , health and welfare of its citizens, officers and employees of said government. The Fiscal Court after due consideration, has determined that this purpose can best be met by permitting family members of county officers to be volunteers for emergency medical or firefighting services and therefore excluded from the Nepotism Ordinance, Section Ill, and for payment of such services. NOW , THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE FISCAL COUR T OF SCOTT COUNTY , KENTUCKY , AS FOLLOWS: I Ordinance #94-014, enacted 1 January, 1995, Section Ill, Nepotism, is amended to read henceforth as follows: III After the effective date of this ordinance, a family member of a county officer shall not be initially employed or appointed to a position in a county governmental agency in the same agency in which the officer serves. This provision shall not apply to a public officer's family members who, on the date of the officer's election or appointment, has been employed for at least six months in the same county in which the officer serves or to volunteers who provide emergency medical, emergency management, or firefighting services and who may be paid for their services and expenses of necessary training.
